is a recently constructed ceramic facility near the sinuous Guadalupe River (Spanish for Lady of the River) in Ingram, Texas — deep within the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Our 1800 square-foot open-space studio is fully equipped with the latest professional ceramic tools, including:
- A 36-inch wide North Star™ slab roller
- North Star™ 4-inch extruder
- Two electric oxidation kilns that fire up to cone 8
- A well stocked glazing area complete with glazing utensils and various mediums
- An airbrush facility for spraying large ceramic pieces and custom work
- Large work tables to accommodate oversized and hand-built projects
- A hardware and tool area with a work bench and a grinding wheel
- Mobile ware carts for drying and storing projects that are in progress and a slow drying damp box cart
- Student pottery wheels
Pottery wheels are positioned in front of two 9-foot tri-folding glass doors that flood the work space with natural light. During mild spring and summer days we open all the doors and windows to the soothing Hill Country cross breezes. In more extreme temperatures we use the building's state of the art heating and air conditioning system, which keeps everyone comfortable while also helping to control humidity for better drying conditions. A built-in kitchenette includes a large refrigerator, microwave, and toaster grill for meals for lunches and late night munchies.Outside areas are set up for Raku and pit firing. The 276 square-foot gallery showcases Mark Jackson's ceramic art and paintings as well as the work of students and local artists.

The studio is nestled on 6.7 acres of native oaks and brush cedars. Surrounding hillsides provide pretty views and constant reminders that you are indeed tucked away in the enchanting Texas Hill Country. We have plenty of parking space and a 12-foot overhead door allows easy access to the studio for loading and unloading tools and clay. Simply stated, Studio Rio is a fully-functioning clayworks studio designed to boost your inspiration and propel your creative energy toward the making of ceramic art.
